Sixteen huts overlook the water body with sand dunes as a backdrop. Each hut has a 17-feet thatched grass dome and a lavish area of 300 square feet with independent courtyards, which also ensure privacy. The ethnic interiors have mud-plastered walls, painted with earthern colours. Perched high on the edge of the Great Thar Desert reflecting the rural India, the unique Khimsar fort offers a wide range of experiences to the tourist. The initial construction began in 1523 AD, but during the 18th century, a new 'Zenana' (ladies wing) was constructed in the fort. Thakur Onkar Singh built a regal wing for himself in 1940s.
